Is Miss Caroline a victim or a villain?

I think that Miss Caroline is a villain, as least in Scout's eyes. From Chapter 2 page 23 of the book, it can be seen that Miss Caroline had looked at Scout with distaste when she discovered that Scout was literate and ordered Scout to ask Atticus to stop teaching her to read since it will interfere with her readings during lessons. From this extract, I think that Miss Caroline is a villain because she is introducing a new way of teaching, which involves everyone to start at the same point. Since Scout was at a higher level than the rest of the students, Miss Caroline demanded Scout to stop learning how to read from outside sources since it will hinder her lesson plan. This move had made Scout resent her since reading was like breathing to her, essential for life. With Miss Caroline restricting her freedom to read, Scout regards Miss Caroline as a "damn lady" and hence, I can conclude that Miss Caroline was a villain in Scout eyes.
